My name is Vasilis Germanis. I am a professional (mainly press) photographer with 25 years experience. My love and passion for my profession and never wanting to do the same thing brought me to a state of having covered all kind of different aspects of professional photography; owning a studio and a professional photo lab delivering fine printing, covering social events, photographing for tourist guides, advertising agencies, architectural, aerial, sports, at 2004 Olympic Games as a photo manager, even as a paparazzo for some time in London, UK, where I had lived for two years.
Somewhere in between I have had the joy of being given several opportunities to lecture at seminars and photography schools here in Athens. Teaching and volunteering for various groups and communities: Children’s Museum, Scouts of Greece and Fair Trade Hellas. I believe “with teaching you professionally rejuvenate and by volunteering you mentally revitalize”.
News photography has always had my biggest interest and portion of my career, so parallel to all the above I’ve been photographing for several Greek news photo agencies having my work published in newspapers and magazines on my coverage of Greece’s political and domestic highs and lows of the crisis and all other affairs. News photography has made me walk, see, feel and understand every corner of my historically rich, vibrant and cultural birth city. And that reassures that your Photo Walks in Athens with me will be –besides a practical knowledgeable walking photo class -also a great acquaintance of the essential Athens and will give you an authentic city adventure and a rare opportunity to experience it from an insider’s point of view.

You will be taught how to develop the ‘photographer’s eye’ and see things from a broader perspective, not just in regards to visual perception but also in regards to precise settings and methods to ensure yourself beautiful and atmospheric images of Athens.
